headphone stopped working after software updates

the headphone did not work after the installation of the original os. however, after updating the kernel to version 6, that fixed the issue, but the latest software update broke it again. can someone tell me how to go about fixing it? i tried to play around alsamixer, sound manager, but the problem persists. when i plugged in the headphone, the os does recognize the headphone's existence, just no sound.

What OS and version are you using?
Do you use pulse/pipewire?
