A Searchlight Style Panel Plugin One Day?

I know Linelight was a thing, but that's deprecated.

Would catfish be a suitable alternative? It can filter search results by mime type as well.

A plugin based on catfish with some kind of embedded text entry box for searching?  Yeah, that'd work.

Re: A Searchlight Style Panel Plugin One Day?

Try this.

First create either aliases (or scripts) to the following:

alias cf='catfish --start'
alias cff='catfish --path / --start'

...the first to search your $HOME, the second to search from / (root).

You'll need to logout and back in again if using aliases.
Looks like verve can auto process any new aliases you create on the fly.

Then add the xfce4-verve-plugin to your panel and use it to issue search commands. Example:

cf work
cff rules.d
