How NOT to wrap icon text on the desktop?

With a sane font size (i.e. not 10 or 12), the filenames of desktop icons show only the first few letters. An online search for this bug shows a number of queries in the past decade. The potential resolution to solve the issue applies only to GTK2 variants of XFCE.

What needs to be done to show the full filename for items on the desktop, on Leap 15.6 with 4.18?

Re: How NOT to wrap icon text on the desktop?

Thanks. Another weird (or more accurately term: broken)  default setting that needs fixing, to be usable for humans.

Would be nice if someone takes the time to document what each knob does. There is a lot math done in xfdesktop-icon-view.c ...

What I may use now is:
XfdesktopIconView.view { -XfdesktopIconView-ellipsize-icon-labels: 0; -XfdesktopIconView-cell-text-width-proportion: 4.4; }
