Fixing Bluetooth in Xubuntu Noble

Greetings,

I am testing Xubuntu 24.04 Minimal and have added blueman. One problem is that connecting a laptop to a Bluetooth receiver fails with "br-connection-profile-unavailable." After some research I found that installing libspa-0.2.-bluetooth enables the connection. I see traffic on other forums suggesting that this relates to the implementation of pipewire.

If some other solution is preferable, I'd be glad to hear about it. I'm guessing that dysfunctional BT was an oversight that may be corrected in an update. In the meantime, this may be helpful info for others encountering the error.

Re: Fixing Bluetooth in Xubuntu Noble

Yes, Xubuntu Minimal lives up to it's name. I've enjoyed having an almost blank slate to build my own desktop.

I remembered to look for libspa-0.2-bluetooth because it was one of the packages I'd installed when switching from Pulseaudio to Pipewire on 22.04 Jammy. It is a bit obscure, and I'm not sure that it will be added as a dependency in an update.

While I was keen to keep my desktop minimal, I did compare the packages listed for https://packages.ubuntu.com/noble/xubuntu-desktop to those for https://packages.ubuntu.com/noble/xubun … op-minimal to spot any I would need.
