Alt + right-click-n-drag, Resize Window grabs multiple windows

Having an issue with using Alt + right-click-n-drag to resize a window:
Specifically when enlarging a window:  I have pressed ALT and right-clicked within a window, but close enough to a corner to activate resize of both height and width. As I drag the corner larger, the window begins to resize, but as I continue, moving the cursor past the original window border position on the screen, focus suddenly changes to a window behind the one I want to resize.  As I continue to drag, the other window is resized, and if there are more windows behind, can end up resizing two or three additional windows. Issue is intermittent.  Less likely if I drag slowly, and possibly dependent on what else is running.
I do have Window Manager - Focus follows mouse set.

Debian -  11.10
xfce4   -   4.16
xfwm4  -  4.16.1-1

That is odd. What version of Xfce and what version of xfwm4 are you running? Also which distro?

Re: Alt + right-click-n-drag, Resize Window grabs multiple windows

Thanks. Does the same happen if you create a second account on your computer and log in via that account? I'm wondering if its a profile issue.

Also, after a fresh login to your main account, can you post back the contents of ~/.xsession-errors?

Re: Alt + right-click-n-drag, Resize Window grabs multiple windows

I just reproduced it on a new user.  .xsession-errors of the new user below.
Steps taken:
created a new user, login as new user, startx, fixed the order/orientation of my three displays, added whisker-menu to top panel, opened a browser, pcmanfm, geany, a couple terminator windows;  begin resizing windows.  Almost immediately, it occurred while trying to enlarge a window up and right.  BTW: I did NOT set Focus-follow-mouse.

Re: Alt + right-click-n-drag, Resize Window grabs multiple windows

I didn't deliberately choose a compositor, so assume xfwm4 as it's installed and has an active process.

Re: Alt + right-click-n-drag, Resize Window grabs multiple windows

I'm not sure the path forward here. You are more than welcome to create a bug report, but 4.16 isn't really supported anymore upstream. Are you able to test the Debian 12 Live CD to see if the problem persists there? Since I can't replicate the problem on 4.18, it is possible that the issue has already been fixed.

Re: Alt + right-click-n-drag, Resize Window grabs multiple windows

more clues: it started happening with left-click drag and drop.
I'm now convinced it's a hardware problem with my logitech mouse:

So sorry I didn't try that first.
Thank you all.
