So, we click on something and get a dialogue box. We move the mouse down to some selection, which brings up another box. We move again which brings up yet another dialogue box. But ,ooops, I accidentally let my mouse pointer stray outside the box and instantly the whole structure of open boxes collapses and I hafta start again. I do this all the time. Is there some way of giving the desktop a setting such that if the mouse moves off something it will wait, say, half a second before this sort of collapse happens? I know there's lots of little tweaks of this nature, so maybe this can be done too.

If you are talking about menu popups and popdowns, there used to be a gtk3 setting to control that but it was deprecated (no longer works).
