System Power - not suspending

Hi

On my desktop, I have set System power to suspend (and logout) after 15 mins of non-use.

There are few problems:

(i) It does not suspend (only the displays power down)
(ii) When I resume/log in, I see the message: "Authentication is required to suspend the system"
(iii) Or sometimes, after login in, it immediately logs me out, and I have login in again

System info:
OS: Debian 12 bookworm
Kernel: x86_64 Linux 6.10.6+bpo-amd64
DE: Xfce 4.18

I believe this is an Xfce issue?

Any help appreciated.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I followed the wiki instructions, but no joy. It's erratic. Sometimes it suspends fine, but other times it's condition (ii) as indicated above.

And for (iii), even if suspend manually via terminal command, when I login back in, I'm soon asked to do it again.

(I used to use MX Linux with XFCE and didn't have suspend issues, so I don't think it's hardware issue with xfce).

I'm a little confused about power management and screensaver settings.
Basically, after 15mins I would want the pc to suspend and be locked. (I'm not concerned about screen saver settings).

I'd appreciate any further advice.

It seems that the suspend issue has resolved.

Though I still have the suspend, login x2 problem. After a suspend, when I login, a few seconds later, I am forced to login again.

Any advice?

Look at, and/or post your display manager logs. Maybe something in there to indicate the problem.
