Hello everyone. I am using openSUSE Leap 15.6 Xfce in bare-metal on a very old laptop.
I also have virtualbox vm with different openSUSE Xfce, linux Mint and MX linux. With the exception of MX linux, where even the system sounds work perfectly, in none of the other Xfce installations I have system sounds. Videos in browser and youtube play the audio correctly.
In the openSUSE forum I was unable to solve.
I confess to being a noob!!
Thank you in advance.
Regards

First thing I would check is to make sure the system is not muted. Also check any hardware keys. Also check your pulse audio settings to make sure the correct device is selected. Other than that we would need more info. Type of hardware and driver in use.

You seem to have both Pulseaudio and Pipewire on your system. You should probably stick with Pipewire. I'm not sure how Suse does thing, there may be a reason for it. I would check with them.
You didn't mention it but did you check for mute and hardware settings.

I installed Leap with openSUSE settings as standard. I also tried tumbleweed and slowroll for a long time. In the forum all the users who intervened have the same as my installation, videos in browser and youtube: perfect audio in videos but no system sound. I have been with opensuse for a long time but I have tried and I am using in vm also linux Mint and mx linux. All installations with Xfce, except mx linux, have perfect audio in videos but no system sound.
I install all my systems with btrfs and try not to modify many things. As a novice I have ruined many installations trying to modify.
I tried to install Cinnamon and Mate and their system sounds work. I realize that it is a silly request, but I am used to having the opening sounds... Thanks for your interest

Under Settings>>Appearance>>Settings there is a check box to enable event sounds and input feedback sounds.

Done on all installations. Maybe some audio files are missing?

With my modest experience it is too complex. I prefer to give up rather than to compromise a new system. I will have the system without system sounds. I am tired of installing systems, now I have to use it for work.
Thanks anyway for your advice.
Greetings.
