Hi
I was wondering if it is possible to have the network applet systray without all other systrays.

Assuming your using nmapplet then no. It depends on the system tray to function. There other network monitoring application and I think they stand alone on the panel such as wicd and iwgtk. You would need to check your repos for availability.
I just reread your post and you only need one sys-tray. all applets will be placed in it.

But it's all right, when you're all in pain and you feel the rain come down
It's alright, when you find your way, then you see it disappear
It's alright....
