I noticed that I cannot open up Lua script files in my associated text editor when the "Execute Shell Script" item is checked on in Preferences.
I would like to be able to open up any code files.
Not sure why this occurs because in this case the Lua files are not files that can be launched so strange that they are included in this setting.
Does anyone know if there is a way to override this?
I would like to be able to keep the setting checked but also be able to open code files that cannot be launched as well.
Thank You

I don't have any lua scripts on hand but when double clicking on a .sh file marked as executable it opens with mousepad(default text editor). So I'm not seeing what you describe. What is the file association with lua scripts?
You can check under Settings>> Default Applications>> Other. Enter lua in the filter bar and it should come up.

Thank you for your response.
The more I tried this out I realized that it was only some Lua scripts that did not open with associated text editor.
Strange, I opened some of these scripts up and deleted the content inside and saved them and they still did not open.
I then created new .lua files and pasted their content from the file that did not work to the new lua file and then they open fine.
So it is just something with some of the files themselves, not sure why, I do not think they were created in a different program, but for whatever reason that is what it was.
Anyways, at least I was able to figure out that it was not Thunar setting itself.
Thank you again.

Sounds like a file path problem. Are you storing or copying any of them from USB? Sometimes /media must be removed from the file path. Depends on the distro. Lua works perfectly fine for me on Linux Lite, root or user, executable or not.

Extension is .lua. Lua must be allowed/started/called from a normal shell script first and then the lua script itself can run.
