default applications and MIME types

Is there a way to reset the default applications list to its original configuration? I changed quite a few MIME type defaults, thinking I knew what I was doing; and now I can't run any videos. They start, then the picture freezes after a couple of seconds. The audio lasts about 5-10 seconds, then loops and starts over. I have to constantly manually move  the index to even try to get it to work. This holds true for videos online such as youtube; and videos stored on hard drives. It doesn't matter what player I use, they all do the same thing.
If anybody could tell me how to reset list, or fix what i screwed up, I would really be most thankful.

Re: default applications and MIME types

Hello and welcome.

Assuming you're talking about system mimetypes, and not browser mimetype associations, they are saved to ~/.config/mimeapps.list. You can clear/delete that file and it should reset the associations. For more info, see: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/XDG_MIME_Applications.
