Hello!
I tried to start a ligdm session in a separate x-server (running xephyr on display=:7) and used:
>DISPLAY=:7 lightdm
wondering, that I need permissions ...
bash: lightdm: command not found
Then I tried:
sudo DISPLAY=:7 lightdm
** (lightdm:580779): WARNING **: 01:56:08.049: Failed to create IPv6 XDMCP socket: Unable to create socket: Address family not supported by protocol
** (lightdm:580779): WARNING **: 01:56:08.050: Error getting user list from org.freedesktop.Accounts: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.freedesktop.Accounts was not provided by any .service files
Failed to use bus name org.freedesktop.DisplayManager, do you have appropriate permissions?I am looking for a way to run a second x-server with another user
(authenticated or not)
It is not a problem to run an xterm using ssh -X in it.
Similar problem for using xfce4-session:
$ DISPLAY=:7 xfce4-session
xfce4-session: Another session manager is already runningAnd also using startxfce4:
$ DISPLAY=:7 startxfce4
/usr/bin/startxfce4: X server already running on display :7
xfce4-session: Another session manager is already runningAny help would be great!

What if you were to ctrl-F2 and login as a second user the startxfce4 :1
But it's all right, when you're all in pain and you feel the rain come down
It's alright, when you find your way, then you see it disappear
It's alright....

Hello!
What if you were to ctrl-F2 and login as a second user the startxfce4 :1
Thanks, but what I need is this session running just in a window (including, second step probably,
enabling cu&paste and sound).
Using
pkexec -u OtherUser bash -c 'DISPLAY=:5 startxfce4'it works (and as I expected: no sound (like fast userswitching) and no cut&paste).
Its probably mostly a matter of systematic documentation, but I am not
finding somethings about it.
Thanks for your response!
