How to configure automatic suspend on login screen?

While XFCE has power manager to suspend a user session *after* a login, I am wondering how you guys treat the situation on a laptop that is idling on the login screen.

LightDM does not seem to have something like this.  If I forget to login after a (re)boot, the battery will drain until there is no power left and the system is gone.

AFAIK, the only one who can do this, is GDM.
But maybe there are some other options?

What are you guys using?
