Hello and welcome!
I have 2 Lenovo Yoga i16 laptops (ca. 2022 built) that run Mint 21.3 and 22.0 with no problem. Therefore, I need to know more about your system. So please run the command
inxi -Fxzi
in the terminal and then copy-and-paste the output in your reply. Have you run Mint's "System Report" app? It does a decent job checking that everything is properly setup.
Thanks. Cheers, m4a

Thanks a lot ... Nothing terribly wrong afaict. With all due respect, keep in mind that your system is a bit "underpowered" by today's standard (see discussion @ https://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Cel … 390.0.html ). Therefore I'll proceed from that, and just touch on some basics...
1) do you really need the /dev/zram0 device? It hogs 2GB of RAM which the kernel would otherwise use & optimize for its own caching algos.
2) your system runs too hot, at 44C, especially with a Celeron chip. Is it possible that you have dust buildups impairing the fan(s)? also, a failing HDD drives up CPU load with retry-overhead.
3) your battery is weak @ 10.6V (min 10.8V) and half charged, too. Time to replace, or run mostly with the charger connected? is the charger working ok?
4) 237 processes running on 2GB of usable RAM -- a very large workload for this low-end CPU, imho. I would suggest to eleminate as many processes from autostarting as possible, then reboot and re-calibrate process stats and memory usage.
5) Kernel 5.15 did run on my two YOGAs, but not well. I upgraded to the 6.18 kernel where everhthing "snapped" in place. Perhaos try that for a look-see?
6) WD5000 laptop drives had stability issues. I'd take a peek using the "Disks" app Mint installs and look around the drive's SMART statistics to spot any early-warning stats.
These are just some early thoughts, before I get into specific tweaks regarding XFCE.
Cheers, m4a

Please, accept my apology for being so cryptic. My comment was referring to the section titled "Swap" in your system report. This device (labeled "ID-2", also known as an in-memory or virtual disk) is not normally installed/configured on a typical Linux-Mint system. The 2 YOGA systems I am working with, running LM 21.3 with XFCE 4.18, do not have it setup.
What process would have installed/configured it? Your hard disk has plenty of room, and your your on-disk swapfile (labeled "ID-1") is not being used at all. In my humble opinion, there is no need for this virtual disk; it would only put extra input/output workload on your CPU which is normally offloaded to and performed by the hard disk's controller.Hope this helps.

Understood .... I am pretty sure that your lenovo ideapad did not ship with Lunix. Please explain how Mint 21.3 was installed. In my experience, XFCE does not noticeably slow down when being "customized". So, please talk about the kind of customization(s) you're attemting to apply which -- according to your original post -- slow down your system. Thanks.
