Not able to set NTP on Desktop time settings

"When checking the time and date setting in the setting menu, the time configuration is set to Manual, if I set it to Syncronise with Internet time" it fails and asks me to install NTP and offer me an "Install NTP support " button, if I click the button I get a further error "GDBus. Errorrg freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.freedesktop.packagekit was not provided by any.service files"

I did go a head and install NTP (ntp, ntpspec, python3-ntp" it also removed, systemd-timesyncd but still does not connect

As far as I can see NTP is installed and running and running status returns states it is active and running.

Running timedatectl status also show the system time service is running with NTP active.

So what when I try to set the Time setting in the setting menu does it come up with the above error and sit on manual update

I am running Xubuntu 24.10 (undated from 24.04)

Re: Not able to set NTP on Desktop time settings

Xfce doesn't have a time and date settings applet - this is something that Xubuntu would have added. In addition, NTP configuration is done at the distro level and not at the Xfce level. Unless someone here has some insight, you may have more luck posting on ubuntuforums, org.
