Debugging question

Hello. After reading this documentation page https://wiki.xfce.org/howto/debug it is not clear how to run lightdm in debug mode. Will I need a second computer and ssh to get the backtrace or what is the correct way to do it?

Thanks.

Re: Debugging question

Hello and welcome.

lightdm is not an Xfce component - it is developed separately. Depending on what you mean by debugging, there maybe distro specific information. For example, here is the arch wiki article on lightdm that talks about running lightdm in debug mode. I believe there are also log file in /var/log/lightdm that can be reviewed.

Re: Debugging question

I had the same issue, and I found that running LightDM with --debug on the same machine and checking the logs helped get the backtrace without needing a second computer.
