With thunar 4.20 the double tap delay in thunar doesn't follow the general double tapping delay. I'm referring specifically to the double tap with a touchpad.
I have to wait a longer time to activate items (opening directories or files), compared to the delay in other applications.
Double clicking works normally (using the touchpad buttons), and follows the general delay defined in mouse settings.
As far as I've noticed, this happens only in thunar. Double tapping something on the Desktop (for example) works normally and follows the defined delay.
I have "double click to activate items" selected in thunar preferences.
This behaviour was introduced in thunar 4.20. I tried downgrading to thunar 4.18 and that works normally.
Before filing a bug report, I was wondering if I might try something else or if a new setting related to touchpads might have been introduced somewhere in thunar.
For reference:
Version that works normally: thunar-4.18.11-3
Version with bug: thunar-4.20.0-1
OS: Arch Linux
Thank you for any suggestions

Sounds like https://gitlab.xfce.org/xfce/thunar/-/issues/1515.
Hasn't been released yet though - will come out in 4.20.1

Yes, it should be the same.
It does register the double tap, though... Not a single tap as described in the bug report. It does it, however, with a longer delay.
Thanks for pointing up the bug report.
