Thunar 4.20 fails to open

Hi, I just installed the latest updates (MX Linux 23) which brought XFCE 4.20, including Thunar 4.20. Since then, Thunar has failed to open. This is what I get from the terminal:

$ thunar
(thunar:4634): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: 10:11:22.169: invalid cast from 'GFileIcon' to 'GThemedIcon'
(thunar:4634): GLib-GIO-CRITICAL **: 10:11:22.169: g_themed_icon_get_names: assertion 'G_IS_THEMED_ICON (icon)' failed
Segmentation fault

I've seen a few reports elsewhere of the same problem, though no solution has been suggested. I was hoping I might strike lucky here; any indication of what to do would be eelcome. Thanks.

Re: Thunar 4.20 fails to open

It's worth pointing out that no one else in the MX Community seems to have encountered this problem, at least so far.

MX-23 (based on Debian Stable) with our flagship Xfce 4.18.

https://gitlab.xfce.org/xfce/thunar/-/issues/1511 - will be part of upcoming thunar version 4.20.1.

Does it happen on all directories or just specific ones? Is your home directory mounted from somewhere else?

The file manager simply failed to start. Happy to report that the problem was solved by upgrading to the latest Thumar point release 4.20.1 - all is well again :-)
