Hi,
My (otherwise excellent) MX Linux XFCE 23.5 with lates Liqurix kernel doesn't remember my user name when rebooted - I'm sure it used to do this. Any help appreciated.

You mean you have to create a user everytime you boot or the login manager doesn't show your name by default?

it doesn't remember my username so i have to retype each reboot, annoying as I'm sure it once worked!

A quick Google search.

this would most likely have to do with the lightdm configuration, not anything Xfce is doing.
I would check to make sure that the lightdm-gtk-greeter.conf file is not overwriting our usual lighdm config, with also exists under /usr/share/lightdm and is provided by the lightdm-gtk-greeter-mx23 package.
the setting you are looking for is
greeter-hide-users=false
which our theme sets, but can still be overridden by the /etc/lightdm/lightdm-gtk-greeter.conf file.
in any case, probably not an Xfce issue.
