Names in gitlab

Hello,

I have a question about names in gitlab:

I have seen that many use first name and last name, is there any rule to follow with names? Is it okay to use a nickname?

Yes it's ok, the full name is only required when someone becomes more involved in the project, typically when they take over maintenance of a component.
