installed libappindicator3-1, now indicator plugin doesn't work

Using Xubuntu 24.04 on a desktop.  Couldn't get Signal app systray icon to appear, so I googled a bit and one person said that installing libappindicator3-1 solved the problem.  So I did that, and during the installation some other packages were removed.  It didn't solve the problem, and now indicator plugin on panel doesn't work at all.  (No icons show).  Removing libappindicator3-1 didn't solve that problem.  Is there anyway I can find out what packages were removed, so I can reinstall them?  (Presumably that is what is needed.)

It looks like ubuntu has an apt log file at /var/log/apt/history.log that you could review to see what changes happened.
