To summarize:
I opened /home/dave/.config/menus/xfce-applications.menu and I removed every reference to "Log Out" (except the one for the Whisker Menu)
Saved the file, and executed xfce4-panel -r
But such logout as shown in the image, is still present.
Am I miss something? There is another method?

Don't thing editing ~/.config/menus/xfce-applications.menu help you, this file is used for Applications panel applet or Application in right-click-on-desktop context menu, maybe for xfce4-appfinder, but not for xfce4-panel menu on your screenshot, this be i think defined in source code of xfce4-panel
