How to have customizable random pool similar to that of Xscreensaver

In Xcfe4-screesnaver I can not figure out for the life of me how to only rotate randomly between a certain set of screensavers. Any advise would be appreciated. I am also assuming I would have to do something about light-locker as it is a also a screen saver that might interfere with xcfe4-screensaver from what I know.

Additionally I have the auto suspend option off in power settings yet my desktop still sometimes suspends and then just awakes to a black screen that forces me to hold the power button down until shutoff.

Forgot to mention I am on Ubuntu 24.04

In Xscreensaver you can check or uncheck specific screensavers to add them to the pool or remove them and if this is a feature that will be added in the future oh well but if there is a temporary solution in the mean time I am fine with that.

Hmm, strange, I tried going into xscreensaver settings, setting it to random, and then only selecting the ones I liked and it appears that, I got the intended results I wanted and the desktop did not sleep but I will report more on this later after more testing.

Noticed that I get complete random if it is not the auto time out or maybe I just had insane luck to have a 1/1000000 chance of getting all the screensavers I thought I selected and wanted in a row, The added later feature in this forum is really nice btw

It works If I don't have the option enabled to lock on suspend as suspending otherwise is borked, the xcfe-4 login page appears but i can not type in it and when I hit the switch user button it brings me to light locker than then when i log into gives me a black screen, if I just lock with the button the screensaver appears but random not from ym desired list but I usually just shut off my pc if I am not using it and am not to concerned with security as I am not being gang stalked. Oh well it works good enough for now but if I am missing something I would love to be pointed in the right direction.

I guess I was just lucky as now it just play the things randomly when it auto time outs, oh well

Added later 4 h 48 min 14 s:
Now it just goes to light-locker log out, ok I guess I have no idea whats going on anymore. I just leave it and it does stuff

Added later 6 h 39 min 55 s:
Now its doing screensavers suddenly I have no idea, its doing whatever it wants at this rate I just let it be and it like cycles randomly between behavoirs, I am so clueless

Hello and welcome.

xfce4-screensaver, xscreensaver and light-locker will conflict. You need to pick one of them and uninstall the other two. Xfce4-screensaver does not have an option to select a subset of screensavers to run in auto mode.

Re: How to have customizable random pool similar to that of Xscreensaver

I read in the docs that xcfe4-screensaver can get screensavers from screensaver which is what I had but regarding light locker I had some confusion installing it. Currently though I just would like light locker to not auto suspend and then not let the computer awake after, even though I have it in power setting that I never want it to suspend from idling, it does, and it did before I tried messing with the different lockers.

The first step would be to ensure that only light-locker is installed and running.

What version of xfce4-power-manager are you using? There have been a number of improvements in this area recently.
