Apparently, some panel plugins behave like square buttons that scale with the panel's height. This becomes a noticeable problem when we raise the panel above 40px. I've managed to adjust the icon size by modifying gtk.css to make them as symmetrical as possible, but now the problem is the spacing between them, since I haven't been able to reduce the width of these square buttons.
My goal is to make the panel plugins' spacing similar to that of the icons in the systray (not square).
Right here you can see the enormous size of the button.
I've used the "padding" command with multiple values, and none of them reduce the button size. I've found that only a few plugins are affected, including Pulse Audio, Power Manager, and Notifyd. However, others, such as Wavelan or kbdleds, behave correctly and respect the spacing. Is there a solution to this that doesn't involve modifying the panel values? I'm not willing to change it because it would negatively affect the right side of the panel.

You might see a small space between a panel plugin and what's in the system tray. Do you have a spacer between items?

This is the list of plugins on my dashboard. It's in Spanish, in order from left: 1 Whisker menu. 2 Docklike taskbar. 3 Separator (expanded). 4 Weather. 5 Kbdleds. 6 Notifyd. 7 Pulseaudio. 8 Systray. 9 Power Manager. 10 Clipman. 11 Clock.
