Hi,
I bought a new 4k monitor (3840 x 2160 pixels resolution).
As everything became very small due to the new higher resolution, I have changed the setting in "Settings, Appearance", to "Scaling 2x", and now almost everything is ok.
I need help with two problems.
I've searched Google and this Forum, and I have seen many posts about this, but still couldn't find a solution, although I am sure this must have already been answered somewhere.
If someone could point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it very much.
I am using Linux Mint 21 Vanessa XFCE.
Problem 1
Desktop icons go off screen after I right-click "Arrange desktop icons" in my Desktop.
Example:
If I have 20 folders (in my Desktop) named from 1 to 20, only folders 1 to 7 will appear on the first column, and 15 to 20 in the second column.
Folders 8 to 14 folders just keep going in the first column underneath folders 1 to 7, thus not being visible.
Problem 2
Some apps, like Gimp, Gwenview and Parcellite, do not get upscalled.
So, their letters, texts, and menus, are presented with very small letters.
Does anybody knows the solutions to this 2 problems?
Added later 21 h 20 min 01 s:
Just to say that I:
- reverted the setting in "Settings, Appearance, Settings", from "Scaling 2x" to "Scaling 1x"
- and then went to Custom DPI setting in "Settings, Appearance, Font" and changed it from 96 to 192
And now all programs are displaying the text in correct proportion.
And the resolution of everything (including texts in menus, etc) is still accurate and sharp.
However, I had to change some settings in the panels (row pixel size, font size of calendar, etc.
The only thing that is not normal is the folder icons at the left of tree view in Thunar, who are smaller than usual.
But, Gimp, Virtualbox, Parcellite, and all other programs that before displayed too small text, now are displaying text at normal size.
I am using an AOC 4k 27" monitor.

You're welcome!
One more handy tip:
Thunar may display icons smaller in 4k than when was in a lower resolution monitor.
To solve that, in Thunar do this:
Menu: Preferences, Side Pane, Icon Size:
and change both fields to 32 or 48px
