Dual monitor positioning

I am using Xfce 4.20 with a dual monitor setup with a laptop screen and external monitor. Physically, the external monitor is above the laptop screen.  But when I try to move the monitor above the laptop screen in the Xfce display settings and click Apply, it is automatically repositioned below the laptop screen.  Is there a way to get Xfce to recognize that the monitor should be above the laptop screen?

If you always connect to the same screen the method in this video may be of use:
