After upgrading from debian 12 to 13 the option "Prompt on logout" is logout settings no longer works. When checked, it does not actual show the prompt as it did before.
I am using xfce4-session-logout command. Before the upgrade XFCE version was 4.18 and now it is 4.20.

We'll need the version of Xfce and more specifically, the version of xfce4-settings that you are running.
Is the enabled in Settings Manager > Session and Startup > General?

The version of Settings Manager is 4.20 and the XFCE version is 4.20.1 as given in my previous post. The option is enabled. It is confirmed by opening the app via Settings Manager directly like you said.

Ok, so I use xfce4-session-logout to display the GUI menu with various options which is probably the logout-dialog and in the changelog for 4.20 there is an entry I came across by accident when reading the changelog.
logout-dialog: Remove save session checkbox
My question is why? The keyboard shortcut I use was defined by default and now the checkbox is gone so that probably led to confusion for many users.
Added later 12 min 01 s:
Ok, so there was a change in what the following option actually does:
Prompt on logout
This option disables the logout confirmation dialog. Whether the session will be saved or not depends on whether you enabled the automatic saving of sessions on logout or not.
So as a consequence of this change the checkbox was removed. I got it now. This is for future readers.
