I installed the minimal desktop and saw that there are some essential apps and software missing in the OS, which needs to be installed. But when it finished installing the system, rebooted and entered the DE, I saw only the synaptic package manager. What should I do in this case ?

I don't know what comes with Xubuntu's minimal desktop but you can use Synaptic to install whatever it is you want as far as software and build out from there as you desire.

Greetings to you! Re. XFCE4, there are 2 packages/bundles i found helpful: "xfce4-goodies" and "xfce4-panel-profiles". To determine if they are installed, just run the following commands in the terminal...
apt-cache policy xfce4-goodies xfce4-panel-profiles
If they are not installed, then run the following command
sudo apt install xfce4-goodies xfce4-panel-profiles
which (imho) completes the basic DE setup. Cheers, m4a
