Hi I tried searching online for a bit to see how I can adjust the time for lightdm to lock the screen after my laptop has been idle but could not find anything. As stated I am using lightdm to lock my screen after xscreensaver was giving me issues. The issue with the xscreensaver was that after closing and opening the laptop lid the screen would be frozen with the exception that I could move the mouse. I was able to get out of the screen lock by hitting ALT + CTRL + F1 and logging in and executing the command killall xscreensaver then hitting ALT + F7 to go back into GUI mode.
Any suggestions/solutions where I can adjust this setting? I looked in the file lightdm.conf but I don't want to mess around with the settings.
Also I am using Debian 12.11 XFCE. I tried looking for xfce4-screensaver but it looks like its not installed. Maybe if there is a way I can use an xfce screensaver that would be even better.

Goto Settings>>Xfce4 Screensaver>>Lock tab and enable the lock screen. Down below you should see a line "logout command" and the time setting.

Ok update.
The program xfce4-screensaver is not on my system so I tried installing it from the link below. Too complicated. It lists a bunch of files I need to build then install. I was unable able to install four of the files so I was unsuccessful with that.

I reinstalled xscreensaver and tried to fix the xscreensaver issue and found this post from this forum:
https://forum.xfce.org/viewtopic.php?pid=74869
Followed the directions and did the following:
cd .config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml
mv displays.xml displays.xml.bak
mv xfce4-power-manager.xml xfce4-power-manager.xml.bak
mv xfce4-session.xml xfce4-session.xml.bak
I didn't log out of any session or anything like that as per the instructions in the post just simply executed the above commands then closed my laptop lid and opened it up and now everything is working good. I need to restart my laptop to see if the fix will remain but looks like the issue has been resolved and I will mark this thread as solved.
Quote from the above thread:
"Thanks ToZ!"
