Today I got the normal Software Updater pop-up, installed the updates, was asked to reboot.
It all seems OK except that the input method icon in the xfce4-panel is now replaced by a slashed-circle "no" icon. It used to be a small "us" but now it looks like this (third icon -- there's notifications, Astrill VPN, then input method, then BT).
Image tag is not working -- try http://www.dewdrop-world.net/tmp/broken-kbd-icon.png to see.
Xubuntu 24.04 with Ubuntu Studio packages -- Linux dlm-tb 6.8.0-64-lowlatency #67.1-Ubuntu SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Wed Jun 25 11:40:24 UTC 2025 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
I live in mainland China, so I (long ago) disabled ibus and installed fcitx. That's been working great, and it still works great -- the input method menu is there and functions correctly; also the input-method switching hotkey is fine. If I switch to Chinese input, the icon changes (correctly) to 拼 "pin" (as in Pinyin 拼音), but if I switch back to English input, then it goes to the broken icon again.
All the functionality is there, just with a "failure" icon. Anyone have any ideas?
TIA,

Was the icon theme updated?
But it's all right, when you're all in pain and you feel the rain come down
It's alright, when you find your way, then you see it disappear
It's alright....

So... Ubuntu pushed out another update today, which fixed it.
Can close this one.
