xflock4 leads to black screen after logging back in

Just updated to Debian 13 (6.12.38) and the following leads to black screen when logging back in (cannot be restored via tty)
- xflock4
- Applications -> Log out -> Suspend
- Applications -> Log out -> Hibernate

Using `systemctl suspend` does not lead to a black screen but there are some artifacts on the screen.

GPU: GeForce GTX 1050 Ti
nvidia-driver version: 550.163.01-2.

I also tested using the older kernel (6.1.140) and it does not have the same problem.

Added later 3 h 28 min 55 s:
Seems that this bug has been there for at least 10 years:

Hello and welcome.

What version of xfce4-session are you running?

This bug report looks related and it was fixed and released in 4.20.1.

I also tested using the older kernel (6.1.140) and it does not have the same problem.

I'll hazard to guess that there is some incompatibility between the nvidia driver and the kernel.

If possible, could you post back /var/log/Xorg.0.log after you experience a failure? If you need to relogin or reboot then the file would be /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old. Maybe there is a hint in there.

Re: xflock4 leads to black screen after logging back in

It is an nvidia driver problem. It seems version 550 caused it. When I revert back to version 535, the problem went away.
