How to use primary and default clipboard to enable paste-in-place

In clipman, there's the setting 'sync mouse selections' and its popup says: this.

This means you cannot paste-in-place.

Persist mouse selections:

With this, if I select something and lose the selection, I can paste from primary clipboard using middle-click, and from the default clipboard using Ctrl + V as usual. This is most optimal because if primary and default are synced, I cannot paste-in-place (select a word and make this the text of the pasted link).

I wanted to post this solely as a reference for other users, as it took me a while to figure out those differences.
