Main Menu's icone and Update Manager's icon unchanged

Hello,

Context
I'm having a small issue customizing my Linux Mint 22.1 with Xfce 4.18. I installed the BeautyLine icon set, which works very well throughout the system, with the exception of the Update Manager icon in the system tray and the Mint icon that launches the main menu. All of my troubleshooting attempts so far have focused on the Update Manager icon in the system tray.

Problem
Even though the entire BeautyLine icon set works very well across the system, the Update Manager and main menu icons remain in their native state.

Troubleshooting Performed
I had the icon pack in my home folder and moved it to /usr/share/icons. Initially, I tried to update the icon cache using “sudo gtk-update-icon-cache /usr/share/icons/BeautyLine/”, which returned “gtk-update-icon-cache: The generated cache was invalid.” I thought there might be an inconsistency between what the index.theme file declares and what the icon folder actually contains. I edited the file to match the directory structure, excluding sections and removing directories. Even after this, I was still unable to update the icon cache.

I verified using “find /usr/share/icons/BeautyLine/ -name "mintupdate" that the icon variations I need are present. In the application menu, the Update Manager icon appears as the BeautyLine version, which indicates that the system is reading the apps/scalable folder.

Therefore, I copied the five mintupdate icons from the /actions/scalable folder to the /apps/scalable folder to ensure they would be found when needed. This also did not work. I then tried copying these five icons to the status/scalable folder (which I created inside the BeautyLine folder), in case the system looks for this type of icon there. But this also did not change the icon in the system tray, which remains as the native one.

I also edited the Update Manager’s configuration file, replacing “Icon=mintupdate” with “Icon=/usr/share/icons/BeautyLine/apps/scalable/mintupdate.svg”. I also added the line “Xfce-Panel-Icon=/usr/share/icons/BeautyLine/actions/scalable/mintupdate-up-to-date.svg” in an attempt to force the system to use these icons. But the icon that appears in the system tray is still the native one. Even after correcting the index.theme file, the cache still could not be generated. I also tried renaming the /places folder, but to no avail.

I appreciate any help that can be provided!

I'm not familiar with that icon pack but look in the files and see if there is an actual icon for the menu and update manager. Many of these icon packs are made to work across desktops and don't have everything for everybody. Chances are they are short the icons in question and the default ones are used.
