Hello everyone,
I'm using Kicksecure (Debian) with XFCE on a laptop with an external display. I've encountered an issue when trying to shut down the system.
When I click the "Log Out" button and select "Shutdown," the system shuts down properly if the laptop lid is open. However, if the lid is closed and only the external display is on, the screen turns off, and the laptop locks instead of shutting down. If I attempt to unlock it afterward, I see I have no internet connection, making me believe that the shutdown operation started but failed. Additionally, when I try to run sudo poweroff, it tells me that a power-off operation is already running, forcing me to use the physical power button to turn off the laptop.
Interestingly, running
sudo poweroff
in the terminal works fine whether the laptop lid is open or closed.
Since I'm using a live boot and don't need to save my session (this issue occurs in both live and persistent boot modes, so it's not related to live boot), I would like the shutdown button to execute the
poweroff
command directly.
How can I achieve this?
Thank you for your help!
