Can't add bookmark via Menu Bar when side panel hidden

Hello,

I've been confused for a while, I tried to add bookmark using menu bar > bookmarks > add bookmarks, and the folder doesn't added to bookmark, I read https://forum.xfce.org/viewtopic.php?pid=80557#p80557, and I'm able to edit ~/.config/gtk-3.0/bookmarks, and the bookmark/folder indeed added but why the bookmark add from menubar doesn't work? Is there a reason why?

Or I'm need to do something in order it to work?

I'm in Fedora xfce 42 spin (the instalation been using xfce from fedora 34 as I remember). Thunar version is 4.20.3

Any pointer/help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Check your ~/.xsession-errors file or journal for error messages when you try.

Are you running thunar as root?

Have you tried in a different account on your computer to see if the problem persists there?

No I don't run thunar as root. I don't try create new account, but I will try.

Check ~/.xsession-errors no error. But if I drag and drop ti sidebar, the bookmark works. What kind of sorcery is this ?

Is there any other cause for this?

Re: Can't add bookmark via Menu Bar when side panel hidden

Right click on the folder >> Send To >> Side Pane(add bookmark)

Does this not work?

Added later 03 min 45 s:
Just tested adding a bookmark from the menu bar and it also works. If you are in a directory and click on Bookmarks >> Add Bookmark.

Is this what you are referring to?

Yes yes, I tried to figure out why it doesn't work, and there are no error message, I need to get the error message like ToZ said. but I can't get one hmm

There are no send to side pane (in my send to)

EDIT:

I found it now (able to reproduce the problem), so when I hide the side panel, and try to add bookmark via menu bar (side panel hidden), it won't work, but when side panel (ctrl+b) opened, and I add via menu bar, it's working.

Does the feature depend on side panel being present so the add bookmark can work, like does it depend on the function side panel has?

Hello ToZ, does the bookmark add really need to have sidebar visible? Thank you

Yes, it would appear so. When the sidebar is hidden, the option is no longer available in the SendTo menu.
