Thunar takes a long time to list a directory (debian 13)

Hello.

When I tried to connect to my friend's ftp server with Thunar, the Thunar daemon froze and never finished listing the root directory.

However, I can run ls on gvfs mount no problem.

I then tested with a smaller ftp server. In this case, Thunar did finish listing the root directory, but it took about 40 seconds — roughly the same amount of time it takes to calculate the directory size recursively in the Properties dialog.

How can I prevent this?

My Thunar version: 4.20.2 (Xfce 4.20)
