~/.config/xfce4/desktop/icons.screen0.yamlThis file appears to keep position data for desktop files even after those files have been removed. Is this expected behavior or a bug? In addition, is there a way to "clean up" this file to only contain references to existing desktop files? I could probably script something but would prefer to find a pre-existing way of doing it.
I'm on Xubuntu 25.04, xfdesktop version 4.20.1, running on Xfce 4.20 with X11 and Thunar 4.20.2.

You could create a bug report for the issue.
Regarding manually editing the file, see: https://gitlab.xfce.org/xfce/xfdesktop/-/issues/373.

I won't try to edit the file when it's in use. But if you're saying it's likely a bug, I'll go ahead and file one. Thanks!

Stumbled over that issue with that icons.screen0.yaml file in ~/.config/xfce4/desktop today. I am on Debian 13.2.
Found the bug report here https://gitlab.xfce.org/xfce/xfdesktop/-/issues/435
but there seems to be no reaction on the developer side. Assignee - None, Labels - None. ??
This is an issue, just mixing those obsolete positioning settings with actual data and bloating that file.
