I have this hp ProDesk PC on which is installed Debian 13, using XFCE GUI.
When the PC restart after power failure, the user will not necessarily log in immediately.
When the PC wait for a user to log in, after a few minutes the PC will fall to sleep, preventing an important daemon to run properly.
I want the PC to Not go to sleep while waiting for a log in.
I looked at the Application/Settings/Power Manager/
for setting up some of the power management options.
The setting were set with the following parameters:
System Power Saving
sleep mode: suspend
When inactive for: Never
Power profile
balanced
Display Power Management
Put to sleep after: 5 minutes
Switch off after: 60 minutes
Yet, despite the system set to "sleep:never" after a few minutes, the
PC will go into, seemingly, sleep mode and will no longer accept any reach from ssh.
And the running daemon will cease to function, and the processor fan will stop.
So here is my question: How can I prevent the PC to go into sleep while waiting for a log in from the user ?
I want the PC to keep running the active daemon.
Thanks

This isn't XFCE related.
You're probably running LightDM, so you need to set the following for the lightdm user:
org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power sleep-inactive-ac-timeout 0Offline
