xfce panel error | cant change panel bg to transparent or other color

my panel bg is stuck in white after some configurations on my terminal when i ask gpt to try diff desktop environment, but i reverted it back to the original but now the panel is stuck on white bg. even if i go to panel preferences, set bg to solid color with ZERO opacity, still no luck. but i noticed when i change it to bg img it only applies to the "window button" area in the panel... please help

Re: xfce panel error | cant change panel bg to transparent or other color

Hello and welcome.

Do you have any files in ~/.config/gtk-3.0/gtk.css? Specifically a "gtk.css" or settings.ini" file? If so, can you post back the content of those files?

You might also consider re-naming them (add .bak to them) and re-login to see if it helps.

Its a pleasure to be here in the awesome community....

what happened was, I was trying to personalize my desktop a bit, mainly to move my shortcuts slightly to the right. Since XFCE doesn’t let you do that easily, I tried using Nemo to handle the desktop instead. But that ended up clashing with XFCE’s own desktop manager. When I switched back, something in the desktop or theme settings didn’t reset properly.

After that, my XFCE panel started acting weird — when I opened the menu, the background turned white or gray and stayed like that even after moving the cursor away. Basically, the whole issue came from Nemo temporarily taking over the desktop and messing with XFCE’s theme or compositing settings. It’s not because of Conky or any of my other tweaks.

i uploaded my folder here kind sir, what happened is that i wanted to personalize my desktop so much that it led me to this problem... i asked chatGPT to summarize what happen.. this is our conversation

this is quite long. idk if it will help
