Hi there,
does some experience also that Signal-Destop stops syncing at irregular intervals?
If I search the internet this is obviously an issue known for a long time.
I haven't found a solution.
But, I think I can pinpoint the problem.
I'm always on Debian 13, BTW. Occasionally on Gnome/Wayland and than I come back to XFCE/X11.
I install Signal-Desktop from signal.org and update immediately if a new version arrise.
On Gnome/Wayland the problem does not show up. Signal works without issues.
On XFCE/x11 the above mentioned error occurs at irregular times. I have to kill signal and restart.
Thus my vague conclusion is, that this depends on which display-server I'm on. But I have no clue what lies behind.
Is there anybody how experiences the same? Or better, has a solution?
I'm reluctant to use the flatpak version, because it's "unverified" by flathub.
Thanks in advance
Cheers!

I don't use the app but you can check .xserver-errors after the issue happens. It may have some clues. Maybe signal has a log too?
But it's all right, when you're all in pain and you feel the rain come down
It's alright, when you find your way, then you see it disappear
It's alright....

Hello there,
I am experiencing the same issue on two quite different machines that are running XFCE under Linux Mint.
For comparison, other machines running Linux Mint with Cinnamon do not seem to have the same issue.

As @eriefisher notes, Signal-desktop should be able to produce a debug log of some sort. Sharing the contents of that log file for when the sync stops happening might yield some useful info.
Mark solved threads as [SOLVED] to make it easier for others to find solutions.

Thanks. I will check on this the next time I notice it happens.

I've found a solution for this annoying problem.
When I kill “light-locker,” the problem goes away.
So I uninstalled “light-locker” and installed “xfce4-screensaver” instead.
Has anyone an idea why "light-locker" causes this issue?
