Where does Mousepad save its drafts?

Where does Mousepad save drafts (unsaved text documents)? Does it store multiple backups (like Firefox does for sessions)? Is it possible to recover an accidentally closed draft?

(If I shut down the computer with Mousepad open with unsaved text documents in it, they will reopen the next time I open Mousepad after I boot the computer if I say 'yes' to recovering previous Mousepad data, which implies they must be saved somewhere.)

They are saved in ~/.local/share/Mousepad/. They are deleted when you explicitly choose to close an unsaved document (answering "yes" in the popup dialog, which is never the default choice), or when you save it to disk.

Re: Where does Mousepad save its drafts?

Thanks. Looks like I accidentally deleted it then. 🤦🏻 I pressed 'don't save' trying to close the window in a hurry, forgetting that I normally leave Mousepad open and shut down with it open when I want to leave the drafts there.

You could set "restore session" to "always" in 'Preferences -> File' to avoid this.
