Hello everybody

Although I'm new to this forum, and most forums to be honest, I have been using Unix since about 1987, adopting RedHat in 1994, and then Fedora in 2003. And I must say that the many many brilliant volunteers who have been making this OS work so well over these decades are to be congratulated. They are the true pioneers of this computer age.

I also very much like XFCE and have been using it since I started using Fedora. It is a really nice, customizable, rendition of Unix/Linux.

I joined this forum because I've been having a problem with xfdesktop since Fedora 42, but I will explain that in another -- hmmm, not sure what you call it? -- a series of questions having to do with how to determine/use screen names in xfdesktop. Please wish me luck figuring out how to post my question there! smile)

Re: Hello everybody

Thanks, ToZ,

   I'm also in Canada (Halifax).

Perhaps you can point me to some documents that explain to me how I can monitor my postings to this forum? Also, how to actually interact with this forum? I'm interested to see if anybody can help fix the "xfdesktop --reload" problem that I think I posted elsewhere on this forum.

   Best wishes,
       Gordon

Re: Hello everybody

There are two main ways to do this:

  1. Click on the "Subscribe to this topic" link at the bottom of every thread - you will get an email notification when there is a change

  2. Just below the opt blue bar, there are a series of links to the right. The "Posted" link will display all list of all threads in which you have posted.

As for documentation, I'm not sure any exist - at least I'm unaware of any. This forum is a "fly by the seat of your pants" type forum. lol

Your other post is located here - I replied.

Hello fellow Canadian. Went to Moncton last summer but couldn't make it to Halifax. Definitely a place I'm hoping to visit in the future some time.

Re: Hello everybody

Hey! Another fellow Canadian. Welcome.

We have friends in Hansport we visited last summer. Spent one day in Halifax. The whole trip was about threes weeks of driving from Ontario and seeing Quebec, New Brunswick, PEI and Nova Scotia. Man we live in a beautiful place.
