Making themes

Hello, I don't know if this has already been explained in the wiki but how can I make a custom theme for XFCE? I know that looking at a pre-existing theme and changing the resources is a way, but I want to see at least a list of all the elements and how they impact the layout. If you have any links that explains that it would be much appreciated.

Re: Making themes

Sorry, I can't point you to a specific resource but...... It depends if your theme is gtk2 or gtk3 and up. The gtk2 uses resources(images) and gtk3 is pure css. Have a look in your /usr/share/themes folder for some ideas.

But it's all right, when you're all in pain and you feel the rain come down
It's alright, when you find your way, then you see it disappear
It's alright....

Re: Making themes

Unfortunately, there isn't a go-to guide for gtk theming that I am aware of.

Use your preferred search engine for "creating a gtk theme" and you will get a bunch of hits.

https://wiki.gnome.org/Attic/GnomeArt/T … /GtkThemes

https://gtkthemingguide.surajmandal.in/#/

Some more links at the bottom of this page:

https://github.com/surajmandalcell/Gtk- … _themes.md

Usually, I just read trough the various files for a theme and start changing colors, line widths etc .... Get a gtk theme from gnome-look.org that includes the xfce folder (like the Fluent themes).

Oh then I'll see about GTK3 since I have an easier time with CSS, thanks for the help!
