Accidentally ran 'sudo startx' in session

TL;DR What files are created/modified after running sudo startx when already in a session?

Hello everyone. I mindlessly ran sudo startx while in an X session, which broke my .Xauthority file permissions. I fixed that issue by simply deleting them from my home directory.

However, I have noticed that some of my settings have been changed. My xfwm4 default VBLANK mode was changed, for example; I am unsure which files I need to revert now. This is particularly bad for me because my system had a very specific setup due to a very unique mouse issue, and I am unsure which settings I previously had.

I keep a backup of my system in case of issues like this, but I'd like to know which files in particular would have been changed upon running that command. If that is unknown, I'd like to know the possible locations of all related files; I've looked at a lot of wiki pages but can't find a complete list.

No idea.
One question; why would you run sudo startx ever?
Don't think I ever heard of it as something to do in any context.

While inside a running session especially????
I would imagine manually resetting everything as you find it.
