When cycling the workspaces, how to stop at the 4th or the 1st one?

Hello,

When cycling the workspaces with Ctrl Alt right (or left) arrow, on the right side after the 4th workspace it goes on to the first one and the same thing happens when going to the left.

As there is no concurrent display on the screen of the number of the workspace currently cycled (or is it possible to get this?), you quickly do not know where you are.

Is it possible when using Ctrl Alt right (or left) arrow, for the cycling to stop at the 4th or the 1st workspace?

Open "Window Manager Tweaks", tab "Workspaces" and uncheck all of them.

Re: When cycling the workspaces, how to stop at the 4th or the 1st one?

It works; thank you very much vm_x!

There is something strange here though.

I already had checked these settings and the setting "Change workspace when the first or the last is reached" was already unchecked.

The one that was check-marked was "Change workspace depending on the disposition of the desktop", which I don't know what it means, but the strange thing is that it is this setting that is responsible here though it should not.

My system is in the French language ; would it be possible for the translations of the two lines to have been inverted?

The order of the lines in my system is:

3rd line: Change workspace depending on the disposition of the desktop
4th line: Change workspace when the first or the last is reached

Is it the same order in an English language system?

I don't know about translations, here's how I have it:

Re: When cycling the workspaces, how to stop at the 4th or the 1st one?

Thank you vm_x: it is the same order.

And someone already detected the problem here:

https://gitlab.xfce.org/xfce/xfwm4/-/work_items/893

Here's what he says:

when I uncheck 'Wrap workspaces when the first or the last workspace is reached' in the Window Manager Tweaks GUI, it still wraps from first to last - or vice versa. I wanted it to stop when reaching the first or last workspace.

I get the desired result if I uncheck 'Wrap workspaces depending on the actual desktop layout' as well. But based on the naming I would have expected workspaces to stop wrapping by solely unchecking 'Wrap workspaces when the first or the last workspace is reached'?

Hope this makes sense!

The only setting preventing the cycling to go beyond the 4th or 1st workspace is to unmark "Wrap workspaces depending on the actual desktop layout" and it works EVEN IF "Wrap workspaces when the first or the last workspace is reached" is checked-marked, which has no sense.
