right-click to for menu with panel-like features

Is there a way to setup right-click so that it displays things like a digital clock and calendar in addition to the conventional type of menu items?

Not as far as I know. There is no provision in the desktop menu for widgets as you describe. You would be better off with something like Conky.

On a single right click, no as said.
With two clicks, sure.
Set up thunar custom actions that displays for directories named 'Desktop'. Use them to start any script or program, as a second click within the regular menu.

Thanks. Ok. Alternatively, is there way the configure a right-click to pop up a panel temporarily (instead of the usual right-click menu) ?
