Hello,
I'm new to linux on the desktop and I recently installed Debian with Xfce after trying a few different desktop environments. I think Xfce is an excellent desktop environment cause it's speedy and looks good with lots of options.
There's one problem that I was having, but I fixed it. It seems pretty common that Xfce on Debian will have issues with suspend/sleep. Either the login prompt won't show, or once logged in, only a black screen is shown. The solution was installing xfce4-screensaver and uninstalling light-locker.
Has anyone else encountered this? The xfce4-screensaver lock screen looks really nice and performs flawlessly. Is it possible for Xfce on Debian to default to this setup? I mean, yeah, it's only two terminal commands, but lots of places don't mention removing light-locker and it's one of those things that makes linux seem frustrating over the more mainstream operating systems like macOS and windows.
I would be ok doing this myself but I'm quite new and unsure where to make the change. Would it be as simple as adding a script to the Xfce installer? I suppose there could be problems if one installs other desktop environments alongside Xfce. I'm unsure whether xfce4-screensaver works with other desktop environments.

Yes it has come up alot. However, this is a decision that the Debian folks need to make, not Xfce. You'd be better suited bringing it up with them.
