I'm trying to figure out how to get nm-applet to use symbolic icons like the rest of the panel. Anybody tried this? How is it achieved? I've seen pics of it as being the default.

Make sure that "Request symbolic icons" is checked in the Status Tray properties and run nm-applet as an indicator:
nm-applet --indicatorNote: your icon theme will also need to have symbolic network icons included.
Edit: One other note, I think the package needs to be built with indicator support enabled as well. It does in Arch Linux.

OK. I got it to work. It seems my icon theme didn't have the right icon but I switched themes until I found one that worked. Switched back to my preferred icon theme and it kept it.

Secondary question/issue, Bluetooth icon does not show up on startup. I restart the panel and it's there. It seems if something in the systray changes after it starts you need to restart the panel for it to show.
