Firefox mishandling links

I'm using Fedora 43 Linux and Xfce 4.20 with Compiz, fully updated and am set to use four desktops on a rotating cube. For the last several months, when I click on a link in any other program, instead of opening it in a new tab and switching to the desktop with Firefox on it, it opens the link in a new tab and pulls Firefox to whatever desktop I'm on, covering the program I was using.  I asked about this in the Firefox help forum months ago but not one person replied.  Does anybody have a relevant suggestion?

Re: Firefox mishandling links

Right now, I can't get either the Compiz Window Manager or the Tweaks to open.  It just makes ccsm crash.  Suggestions?

Ah yes, compiz. It's settings would over ride xfce. Not sure how to manage that.

You may want to check out wayland/wayfire with xfce4. Very similar functionality and effects.

Re: Firefox mishandling links

I've been using this setup since slightly before Gnome3 came out and I like it just the way it is, mostly because Xfce lets you set things up the way you want instead of trying to force you into doing things the way the devs do.  Things would be fine if only whoever is responsible for the bugs I reported would take a few minutes to look at them, and either fix them or put a comment in about what's going on.

Re: Firefox mishandling links

The problem your having is not an xfce issue. Your not using xfwm so none of the settings will work. I don't know how compiz handles thing. I haven't even looked at it for years now.

Re: Firefox mishandling links

I tried switching to the Xfce Settings Manager but that hung the system so badly that I had to force a reboot.  Thanx for trying to help.
