Re: Applets on panel

I'm not sure what Mint does or what applets your needing but I would think Mint isn't doing anything over and above Xfce4's capabilities.

Can you give an example of an applet you want?

Re: Applets on panel

You can pin absolutely anything to the panel; it’s just a matter of configuring the launcher...

The main defect of the linuxers is lack of memory - they don't remember how their knowledge was when they started with the linux

Re: Applets on panel

First, the screenshot plugin can easily be added through the panel settings. It also has a default hotkey.

For apps that aren't a panel plugin you can add a launcher. Edit the launcher to open the app.

Please see: Settings>>Panel>>Items and click the ad + symbol. Select the plugin or launcher. If the launcher, select the configure symbol, add the info desired. App, icon etc.

Edit: I should add. you need the package xfce4-goodies installed. It contains the plugins themselves.

Re: Applets on panel

For posting a screenshot you need to use a service like imgur.com. Upload the image and then you can get a bbcode link to post here. The forum does not support image uploading directly.

Looking at your image, you could use the docklike-plugin. When you open an application it will appear there. If you right click on the icon you get the option to "pin" it to the dock. I use in a second panel by itself as a dock only but it can be integrated into you normal panel as it's just a plugin.

All this is possible with just adding another panel and positioning it.

Applets are in the notification area, as for plugins and launchers, there's no pin option, because it's not needed, they stay where you put them.
